Another little investigation was about the sentence which was a bit harder than the others to understand fully. The sentence comes from my earlier post about cookies on telegraaf.nl. Here it is:
Ook dient toestemming gevraagd te worden voor het specifieke gebruik van cookies.
dienen – the main meaning is to serve. But here it is likely to mean should or ought to.
dienen – need, should, ought to:
u dient onmiddellijk te vertrekken — you are to leave immediately
gevraagd te worden – to be asked
Gevraagd worden te werken tijdens vakantie is voor velen onacceptabel.
– To be asked to work during vacation is unacceptable for many.
de toestemming – agreement, consent, approval
Thus, the sentence in question is most likely translated this way:
Ook dient toestemming gevraagd te worden voor het specifieke gebruik van cookies.
Also it’s required to ask for the permission for the specific usage of cookies.
