I’ve started doing the revision exercises from the 6th unit of Di3M and realized that I need to revise the rules first, as there are a couple.

Negating with nee and niet.

nee — no
niet — not

Niet often is often put in the end of the sentence:
Nee, ik drink niet.
Ik zie de man niet.

But here are the cases when niet  doesn’t happen to be the last word.

1. Niet always precedes a preposition:
Hij woont niet in Amsterdam

2. Niet always precedes an adjective which follows the noun:
Het huis is niet groot.

3. Niet always precedes binnen, buiten, beneden, boven and  thuis.
De kinderen spelen niet boven.

Negating with geen.

The word geen is used to replace the an indefinite article:
Ik heb een peen → Ik heb geen pen.

Geen is also used with the uncountable things like water, wijn, bier and such:
Ik drink wijn → Ik drink geen wijn.
